Status Report: Works in Progress
Apr. 17th, 2010 12:13 pmAbove His Proper Station (the second half of the story begun in A Young Man Without Magic) will be out in hardcover in November. The third volume in the series, On A Field Sable, is on hold, as Tor wants to see sales figures for the others before making an offer.
One-Eyed Jack, an urban fantasy that could be first of a series, is on my agent's desk awaiting his attention. No idea whether it'll sell.
I'm two chapters (of twenty) into the second draft of Realms of Light, but stalled because I've mislaid a reference work I wanted to use. FoxAcre Press intends to publish it as soon as I finish it. Meanwhile, I'm $23.00 short of posting Chapter 14 of the first draft to the online serial.
The next Ethshar novel, The Final Calling, consists so far of an opening chapter and an outline; I want to have at least four chapters, preferably more, before I start serializing it. Meanwhile, that first chapter also works as a stand-alone short story called "The Warlock's Refuge" that I intend to post this Friday for International Pixel-Stained Technopeasant Day.
At my agent's suggestion, I've started writing a "young adult" novel with the working title Tom Derringer and the Aluminum Airship. I have the first two chapters written, but they're short chapters.
I've been talking to a gaming company that wants me to write tie-in novels for them. We'll see if that pans out.
I have literally hundreds of other stories in various stages of development, ranging from a sketchy sentence or two about an idea, or a clever title with no story attached yet, to the complete first draft of Vika's Avenger.
In other news: Yesterday was the thirty-ninth anniversary of our first date. We have a half-finished patio. There are still several houses in Takoma Park displaying Christmas lights.
