Miscellany: The Continuing Adventures
Apr. 2nd, 2010 11:52 amI'm about three-fourths of the way through the second draft of One-Eyed Jack. I have no idea whether it's any good.
Yes, there are still Christmas lights being lit in Takoma Park and Silver Spring. I don't understand. There are also a few Easter lights now, a phenomenon I saw occasionally in Gaithersburg. What's really scary was that on a walk the other night we found a house that still had its Hallowe'en decorations lit.
The furniture gods may be relenting, at least a little -- we finally got a replacement for the missing chair leg, and the dining room has its full complement of seating. Got the correct shelf brackets in place, too. Most of our furniture is fine. But we still don't have our kitchen counter stools, or the right kitchen tabletop, and I haven't been able to replace the stripped bolt in the chair that had a tree limb fall on it.
I got to go exploring in the crawlspace to find a kink in a plastic drain line. Located and fixed it.
And we've decided to start something that'll give us lots more opportunity for things to go wrong -- we'll be putting in a patio this year.
On the career side, once I'm done with One-Eyed Jack and Realms of Light, I have three different projects people want me to do. Ethshar fans want me to start serializing The Final Calling, my agent wants me to write a YA novel we've been discussing, and there's a game company offering me good money to do a tie-in novel for them. It's nice to feel wanted.
Oh, and I'll be at Ravencon in Richmond next week.
Happy Easter!
